BIOGRAPHY

Alicia Hillman (BMus hons, first class)  lives and works as a Birmingham based saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist, arranger and teacher.

In 2016 Alicia was offered a scholarship to study Saxophone at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire under Naomi Sullivan’s and Andrew Tweed’s tutelage.

Collaborating and learning from others in chamber ensembles is Alicia’s passion, especially making multiple voices sound as one.

Saxology, a community driven project working with musicians of all ages and abilities, to promote the Saxophone in various settings and genres, was the brainchild of Alicia Hillman during her fourth year of her undergraduate degree.

Orchestral performances include premiering Michael Wolter’s Concerto for Nine Saxophones and Orchestra, a Sousa recording project for Naxos, plus many more.

Alicia is an honoured winner of county competitions and has attained funding from the Macfarlane Walker Trust, Maddocks/Mills funds and is a Help Musicians Postgraduate Performance Award holder. She is extremely grateful for their support and financial assistance.

Recently Alicia was successful in her application to undertake a Masters of Music degree. She is looking-forward to continuing her development at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
